Concern on home prices as rates fall 
Two of Australia's big four banks have cut fixed interest rates to their lowest levels in at least 15 years - fuelling both optimism and fears for the residential property market. The Commonwealth and ANZ banks said last night that they would cut fixed rates on home loans by between 0.1 and 0.4 of a percentage point. Their announcements followed similar action by non-bank lenders last weekend. The majority of home borrowers with variable-rate loans will have to wait almost two weeks for a critical Reserve Bank board meeting to find out if they will also benefit from lower rates.
